You know how to write. Then, why do you need a copywriter?

Yes indeed, why do you need a copywriter? You've already learned to read, write and perform several other tasks. You write dozens of emails daily, prepare reports, descriptions, presentations and more. Just as well you can write a sales letter, an email or text for your company's website. A blank sheet of paper or a new document does not scare you, even if there is not a single word written in it. Computer's keyboard is your friend.

But is that enough? Or do you actually need a copywriter?

Maybe not. But we say yes. Why? Here are only few reasons :

1. Your time is limited

If writing is not your profession, then creating text for a flyer or a letter for your site might not catch very easily on top of your priorities' list. You might run a company, department or team comprising dozens of people. There are 1000's of things you have to do and some will definitely be more important than the ones related to your website. But you do need to write the text for the web designer and ask him to start your campaign in a few weeks.

Maybe that 1 month, 3 months or 6 months does not seem very long to finish a text compared to the other dozens of useful things that you manage to do within this time. But think of what you lose - sales , brand image, etc. - and all because your website is not enhanced with a good text and because you lack a proper sales letter.

Remember that what you can complete in weeks, months or even years, a copywriter can do it in only few days.

2. You will always see things from the inside-out

How can you be objective with your product? How well can you see its weaknesses? Can you see all the strengths as seen by a potential customer?

Surely you know your product best but, many times, when you have to "sell" the words it really helps to ask a second person. An experienced copywriter can put in a new light the qualities that you consider minor or not deserving to be mentioned. He can find new arguments for your product to be promoted especially in the face of competition. He can sometimes turn weaknesses into opportunities. Maybe come up with new promotional ideas too. And you always have the opportunity to test these ideas and see if they turn out to be really useful for you.

3. Someone has to be "the bad guy"

Good guy, bad guy. You know these stereotypes from the movies . Who is the "good guy" when it comes to texts ? Theoretically, the one who writes.

When you are not involved in the creative process, who will criticize what you wrote? Or rather , who will objectively critique what you said?

Try the other option : hire a copywriter and be the one who analyzes changes critically, the one who expresses his opinion freely. You will definitely spot vital things easier when someone else does the work you. Often, "the bad guy" brings salt and pepper to the text. Even slightly heating discussions between you and the copywriter can help you achieve a much better text.

4. Language is very important

"We must speak in the consumers' language." You've probably heard this so many times. If your product is intended for different types of consumers ( men / women / children , young or old, etc. ), it is hard to get out of your style and communicate in multiple ways, adapting language to each segment on its own. Solution : engage the services of a copywriter or better, of a copywriting agency, where you can find a style that suits your needs more easily.

5. Test

Alternatively, try out two or three versions. How many text variants do you have the patience to write on the same topic? Certainly , no copywriter guarantees that you will be satisfied at first. But he has the time and patience to come up with 2, 3 or more variants that can be tested. Given these options, you will certainly find something that works "best" for you.

6. SEO is vital

Nowadays everyone uses a search engine when trying to find a certain product or service, as this is the most convenient path. However, given the fierce competition in the online world, very few sites really manage to get to the top and thus get the most benefits. A copywriter is most likely familiar with all the SEO tricks, and can help you provide unique content that will get your website on the very front page of Googe/Bing/Yahoo in less than no time.

If, in addition to all these reasons, a sheet of paper scares you and keyboard is not your best friend (especially when opening a new document), then you definitely need a copywriter.
